The Moral Foundation
Developing a Christian Worldview 2
IN OUR RELATIVISTIC CULTURE, WE need to ensure that our moral standard does not waver or is compromised. The Ten Commandments are a great summary of God’s moral code. It would be good to memorize them and teach them as the necessary foundation for law, morals, and social health. Here they are as found in Exodus 20:1-17:

I
THOU SHALT HAVE NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME
(Do you love God above all else?)

II
THOU SHALT NOT MAKE UNTO THEE ANY GRAVEN IMAGE
(Do you have your own beliefs and philosophies about God and life?)

III
THOU SHALT NOT TAKE THE NAME OF THE LORD YOUR GOD IN VAIN
(Do you use God’s name as a curse word or without really honoring Him?)

IV
REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY TO KEEP IT HOLY
(Do you worship God on a weekly basis?)

V
HONOR THY FATHER AND THY MOTHER
(This doesn’t just refer to children.)

VI
THOU SHALT NOT KILL
(Jesus tells us that if we have anger and hate in our hearts then we are a murder (Mat. 5:22).

VII
THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY
(Jesus tells us that if we look with lust, we have committed adultery in our heart (Mat. 5:28).

VIII
THOU SHALT NOT STEAL
(Think about it. The value is irrelevant).

IX
THOU SHALT NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS AGAINST THY NEIGHBOR
(Have you ever lied?  Admit it…you are a liar).

X
THOU SHALT NOT COVET
(Do you want what you don’t have? Are you discontent with what you do have?)
